In the late hours of a Monday, just a day before his sister's high school graduation, 18-year-old Dominic 'WILDCHILD' McKibbins, a Black male, was fatally shot in Atlanta. The incident, which also left another man critically injured, unfolded around 11:15 p.m. on May 22, 2023, in the parking lot of a business on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in the Center Hill neighborhood.

Authorities described the scene as a shootout involving multiple individuals. McKibbins was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. His grandmother remembered him as a 'sweet, kind-hearted person' with a 'pure heart.'

The investigation into the shooting led to the arrests of several individuals on charges including murder and violations of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Among the first to be taken into custody were 19-year-old Quintavious Williams and 17-year-old Kameron Kindred. Williams was also seriously injured during the shootout and was hospitalized before being booked into jail. In addition to the murder and gang charges, Williams faced a simple battery charge, while Kindred was also charged with aggravated assault.

As the investigation progressed, police identified and arrested more suspects believed to be members of the 952 gang. These individuals included Jaquan Felts, Marcus Foley, and Natavius Davis, who all faced felony murder charges. Authorities announced that as many as seven individuals had been charged in connection with the fatal shooting, though not all were publicly named. The Atlanta Police Department also sought the public's help in identifying at least one other person of interest, releasing a photo and offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
