In the quiet community of Elk Mills, Maryland, a devastating event unfolded on September 9, 2022, claiming the life of 8-year-old Finn Ricker Milligan. The young boy, known for his ability to bring laughter to those around him, was found deceased in his family home. Finn, who had a budding interest in music and enjoyed playing soccer and baseball, was a victim of a tragic murder-suicide.
The horrific discovery was made after a 911 call was placed by Finn's father, 39-year-old Marcus
Edward Milligan. In the call, he stated that he had killed his wife and three children and intended to take his own life. When Cecil County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the Hebron Court residence, they found a grim scene. Finn's mother, 37-year-old Tara Devina Ricker Milligan, and his two older sisters, 14-year-old Teresa Brigid and 11-year-old Nora Merian, were also found deceased inside the house.
The investigation by the Cecil County Sheriff's Office concluded that Marcus Milligan was the sole perpetrator of the killings. Authorities reported that all five family members died from gunshot wounds. A handgun was discovered near Marcus Milligan's body in the detached garage of the home. The weapons used in the incident were legally registered to him.
No arrests were made in connection with the deaths, as the suspect took his own life. While a definitive motive for the tragic event remains under investigation, reports indicated that the family had been grappling with the grief of losing another child, Conor Davin, to cancer in 2019. Neighbors described the Milligans as a seemingly normal and friendly family, expressing shock and disbelief at the turn of events. The community was left to mourn the profound loss of an entire family, including young Finn, whose life was cut short in an act of unimaginable violence.
