In the early summer of 2023, the life of 47-year-old Ricky Lamar Huff of Thomson, Georgia, was tragically cut short. On Saturday, June 3, 2023, emergency services received a call about an unconscious man at a residence in the 400 block of 2nd Street in Thomson. First responders from McDuffie EMS and the Thomson Police Department arrived at the scene to find Huff unresponsive.
He was promptly transported to Piedmont-McDuffie Hospital for medical attention. It was at the hospital that the nature of his condition became chillingly clear; medical staff discovered that Huff had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, Ricky Lamar Huff was pronounced dead. The discovery of the gunshot wound transformed the case into a homicide investigation.
