On August 28, 2023, 69-year-old Kenneth Stanley Dial of LaGrange, Georgia, was fatally shot during his routine morning walk at Sunny Point Park near West Point Lake. Dial, a lifelong resident of Troup County and a 1972 graduate of Hogansville High School, was known for his love of animals and passion for gardening. He had retired from the Live Oak Division of Milliken and Company and was employed by Liechty Automotive and Southern Vehicle Exchange at the time of his death.
