On September 4, 2023, a tragic incident occurred at a Texaco gas station located at 1801 Rock Chapel Road in Lithonia, Georgia, resulting in the death of 7-year-old Zayre Daugherty.

Zayre's father, 42-year-old Dante Daugherty, had stopped at the gas station with his two sons, Zayre and his 6-year-old brother, in the car.
