On a Sunday afternoon in Lithonia, Georgia, the community was shaken by a burst of violence that claimed the life of 45-year-old Othneil Johnson. The incident, which occurred on April 4, 2021, also left a 15-year-old boy wounded.
DeKalb County police responded to the scene at the Fairington Ridge apartment complex off Panola Road at approximately 12:15 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Johnson with fatal gunshot wounds. The teenage victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
At the time of his death, friends of Johnson recalled that he was assisting someone with their car. He was remembered as a devoted husband and a loving father to six children.
