On the evening of February 24, 2024, a dispute between two drivers on a street in Cudahy, Wisconsin, escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 41-year-old Eric Robert Maddox, a White male from South Milwaukee. The incident began as a conflict between Maddox and another driver while heading southbound on Packard Avenue.
The confrontation intensified, leading both vehicles to stop near the intersection of Packard and Birchwood avenues.
Witnesses reported that Maddox exited his vehicle to confront the other driver. It was at this point that a shot was fired from the suspect's vehicle, a black SUV, fatally wounding Maddox. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled in their vehicle. The Cudahy Police Department launched an investigation into what they described as an apparent road rage incident. Their efforts led them to identify a person of interest.
A 32-year-old man from Greenfield was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Police obtained a search warrant for the man's home and vehicle.
