On a Christmas Eve that should have been filled with festive cheer, a tragedy unfolded in Augusta, Georgia. In the late hours of December 24, 2023, Steve Luke, a 36-year-old Black / African American male, was fatally shot in the backyard of his residence on Boykin Road. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after midnight, casting a somber shadow over the holiday for his family and community.
