On the evening of January 12, 2024, 62-year-old Michael Lee was walking home from a local store in East Point, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, when his life was abruptly ended. As he made his way near the intersection of Farley Street and Headland Drive around 9 p.m., he was struck by a single, random gunshot. His wife, who was at their nearby home, later recalled hearing a gunshot but did not initially realize its tragic significance.
Responding to a call about a person shot, police
officers arrived to find Mr. Lee deceased in the street. Investigators believe he was the unintended victim of a random act of violence. In the days following the shooting, the East Point Police Department appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the person or persons responsible for Mr. Lee's death.
A reward of up to $2,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and indictment of a suspect. Michael Lee's widow described him as a man who never met a stranger and had a big personality. She pleaded for anyone with information to come forward so that her family could have justice. As of now, no arrests have been made in the case, and the police investigation remains ongoing.
