On February 12, 2024, Willie Antonio Jewell, a 48-year-old resident of Winterville, Georgia, was fatally shot in the 1200 block of Athens Road in Athens, Georgia. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 8:53 a.m. and found Jewell dead from a gunshot wound upon arrival.
