Howard was apprehended on February 23, 2022. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Dishawn Herndon's father filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Blue Flame Lounge. The lawsuit alleges that the club failed to provide adequate security for its patrons, citing a history of violent incidents and criminal activity on or near the premises. The family is seeking punitive damages and compensation for the immense loss of the young man's life.
