In the late hours of a Friday night in Atlanta's Lakewood Heights neighborhood, gunshots shattered the peace, leaving a 27-year-old man, Keiontay Davis, with a fatal wound. The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, when Atlanta Police were called to a residence on Lakewood Avenue shortly before midnight. There, they discovered Davis suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was urgently transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office later confirmed his identity. At the time of the shooting, details about a potential suspect or the circumstances that led to the violence were not immediately available, and the investigation by the Homicide Unit was ongoing.
At the time of his death, Davis was on probation. His past included a significant arrest in February 2023. A routine traffic stop for running a red light on Piedmont Road NE led to the discovery of outstanding warrants against him for felony murder and aggravated assault. These charges stemmed from a shooting on September 27, 2022, in the city's Hotel District near the Children's Museum of Atlanta. In that incident, an exchange of gunfire between two groups resulted in two men being shot and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in a private vehicle.
One of the victims in the 2022 shooting, 26-year-old Jaquavious Wilson, died from his injuries four days later, which escalated the investigation to a homicide. Following his arrest, Davis was taken to the Public Safety Headquarters for questioning by homicide detectives before being booked into the Fulton County Jail. In addition to the murder and aggravated assault warrants, he also faced charges of possession of marijuana, no insurance, failure to obey a traffic control device, and not having his license on his person. It was also reported that Davis had entered a negotiated plea in November for Violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which resulted in a sentence of 15 years on probation. A court document filed in September 2025, after his death, noted that Pamela Roland, as the administrator of his estate, was substituted for him in a civil case, and it mentioned his awareness of violence in his community, including shootings and killings.
