In the fall of 2020, the life of 18-year-old Lamontavius Williams, a Black male, was cut short by violence on a southwest Atlanta street. On the evening of September 15th, police were called to the 500 block of Cleveland Avenue SW, where they found Williams with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The young man's death marked the 98th homicide in the city of Atlanta that year.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case remains unsolved.
Investigators searched the area for potential witnesses and suspects immediately following the discovery of Williams's body, but to no avail. In the years that have passed since the shooting, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The circumstances that led to the fatal encounter and a motive for the shooting remain unclear to the public.
The investigation into the death of Lamontavius Williams is still considered open and ongoing by the Atlanta Police Department.
