Justin Barber, a 27-year-old male from Atlanta, Georgia, was shot and killed on December 9, 2023, in a high-rise apartment building in the Buckhead neighborhood. The incident, which claimed the lives of two other men, is believed by authorities to have been connected to a drug transaction that turned violent.
The shooting occurred on a Saturday evening at a Pharr Road apartment complex.
Atlanta police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered three deceased victims inside one of the units. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the victims as Justin Barber, 22-year-old Javier Leach, and 23-year-old Kingston Cook. A fourth individual was also shot but survived and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the preliminary investigation, authorities believe the men were all acquainted and that the suspects were invited into the apartment for a drug deal. The situation is thought to have escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire. At the time of the initial reports, the Atlanta Police Department stated that they were not actively searching for any additional suspects.
The investigation into the triple homicide remains ongoing. As of late 2023, no arrests had been publicly announced, and the identity of the shooter or shooters had not been released. Details regarding what specifically transpired inside the apartment and the motive behind the deadly escalation have not been disclosed by law enforcement officials.
