In the late afternoon of October 26, 2018, tragedy struck in a South Fulton, Georgia neighborhood, claiming the life of 17-year-old Jermaine 'Baby Slime' Riley. The young African American male from College Park was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle. The incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. in the Fairfield Square townhomes located on Hackamore Drive near Old National Highway.
Riley was not alone in the car when the shots rang out.
Alongside him was 20-year-old Cortez Pounds, who also sustained injuries in the attack. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. While Pounds' injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, Riley ultimately succumbed to his wounds. The vehicle they were in was left riddled with bullets, a stark testament to the violence that had transpired.
In the days following the deadly shooting, law enforcement officials made an arrest in connection with the case. Natravious Juwan McDaniel, a 20-year-old from Atlanta, was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery for his alleged role in the incident that ended one young life and altered another. McDaniel was booked into the Fulton County Jail.
