In the early morning hours of June 14, 2025, a burst of violence outside a Northwest Atlanta event lounge claimed the life of 18-year-old Alex Curry. The young Black male from the Atlanta area was fatally shot just after midnight in an incident that also left another man wounded.
Atlanta police officers responded to calls of a shooting at approximately 12:42 a.m. at 1745 Defoor Place NW, the location of the Dynasty Event Lounge.
Upon their arrival, they discovered two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Curry was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Homicide investigators immediately began their work, piecing together the events that led to the deadly encounter. For several weeks, the case remained under active investigation with no suspects publicly identified. The community was left seeking answers as authorities worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
In a significant development, on August 26, 2025, the Atlanta Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect. Nineteen-year-old Kimontan Scott was taken into custody and subsequently charged in connection with the killing of Alex Curry. Scott is now facing felony charges for the shooting that ended one young life and altered another.
