In the late afternoon of September 8, 2018, a violent encounter in the 7000 block of Melon Court in Baton Rouge tragically cut short the life of 25-year-old Jyrish Turner. Turner, a male resident of Chippewa Street, was engaged in a conversation with another man when they were approached by an individual with the intent to rob them. The situation escalated, and gunfire erupted, leaving Turner with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
