On the evening of September 8, 2018, 25-year-old African American male Jyrish Turner was fatally shot in the 7000 block of Melon Court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. According to Baton Rouge Police Department reports, Turner and a 28-year-old male were engaged in a conversation when an unknown male approached them with the intent to rob them.
