In the early morning hours of October 2nd, the life of 36-year-old Clinton Odu was tragically cut short in Atlanta. Responding to a call just before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Steele Avenue, police discovered Odu suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was urgently transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Clinton Odu succumbed to his injuries, which included gunshot wounds to his chest, back, and forearm.
At the hospital, authorities found several dollar bills, credit and debit cards, and drugs on his person, though a definitive motive for the shooting was not immediately released.
Weeks after the fatal shooting, an arrest was made in the case. Jadarius Carr, 24, was identified as the suspect and subsequently charged with the murder of Clinton Odu. Carr's arrest on October 29th was not only for Odu's death; he was also linked to a separate homicide that occurred a day prior in East Point, where 22-year-old Nathaniel Johnson was found shot to death in a motel hallway. Described as being wanted in connection with multiple violent crimes, Carr faced a total of 18 charges following his apprehension at a Citgo gas station on Fairburn Road, which involved a brief foot chase. The charges against him included two counts of murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and multiple weapons and drug offenses. Prior to the two homicides, Carr was also wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident in DeKalb County. A warrant for his involvement in the shooting of Clinton Odu was issued on October 19th, leading to his eventual capture.
