In the early moments of the Fourth of July, 2024, a dispute on the road in DeKalb County, Georgia, escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 37-year-old Toreon Adams. The Black/African American man from Decatur was shot just after midnight in the vicinity of Colony East Drive near Stone Mountain.
