In the late summer of 2005, a shooting in Northeast Washington, D.C., claimed the life of Dennis Smith, a male resident of the city also known by the nickname 'Skip.' On the night of Friday, August 26, 2005, at approximately midnight, Smith was shot in the 3700 block of Hayes Street, NE. The following day, August 27, 2005, he succumbed to his injuries.
