In the late morning of September 11, 2024, the life of Deterious Postell, a 26-year-old male, was tragically cut short in Atlanta, Georgia. Police responded to the Dwell at Hollywood apartment complex in the Almond Park neighborhood where they discovered Postell unresponsive on a back porch. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical crews.
Known to many by his nickname 'DJ' or as the rapper 'Luh Semi,' Postell was described as a loving father, son,
grandson, nephew, and friend. In the wake of his death, a GoFundMe page was organized to assist his family with expenses, a testament to the community's support.
The investigation into Postell's death led to the identification of two suspects. Within days of the shooting, authorities arrested 24-year-old Adonijah Yisrael and 26-year-old Jakell Floyd. While police have confirmed that the two suspects knew each other, their relationship with Postell remains unclear. A motive for the shooting has not been released by law enforcement.
Floyd was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Yisrael faces charges of murder, hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal, making false statements, tampering with evidence, and obstruction. Both individuals are being held without bond as they await further legal proceedings. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Postell's death continues.
