In the early hours of a Sunday morning in southwest Atlanta, a young life was tragically cut short. Davon Grant, an 18-year-old African American male from Riverdale, Georgia, was fatally shot in the chest on April 10, 2016. The incident occurred on the 1900 block of Sylvan Road SW.
After being wounded, Grant managed to make his way across the street to a gas station in a desperate attempt to find help. It was there that he collapsed from his injuries.
Emergency services transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital, but sadly, he succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced dead.
The Atlanta Police Department immediately began an investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding Grant's death. Despite their efforts, no suspects were immediately identified, and no arrests were made in the case. Over the years, the investigation has seen limited progress, and the case remains unsolved. The community and Davon's family continue to hope for new information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of the person or persons responsible for his death, a poignant reminder of the lasting impact of violent crime.
