Thomas Jefferson Byrd, a 70-year-old African American actor, was tragically killed on October 3, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia. Byrd, known for his roles in several Spike Lee films, was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds in his back. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 1:45 a.m., on Belvedere Avenue in southwest Atlanta. Byrd was pronounced dead at the scene.
