Anthony Hammond, a man, was killed late on April 18, 2022, in the Atlanta area when police were called to the Eagles Run Apartments on the 2000 block of Bouldercrest Road in DeKalb County at about 11:45 p.m. Officers arriving at the complex found him with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Public reporting tied the case to a homicide investigation that began almost immediately in the darkness outside the apartment buildings, with detectives trying to piece together what
had happened in the final moments before Hammond was shot.
In the first wave of reporting, authorities said a suspect had already been taken into custody. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that Tayna Brown was arrested without incident in connection with the shooting, and Gun Violence Archive’s incident entry also identified Brown as the subject-suspect and described her as arrested and unharmed. An arrest listing from the following day in DeKalb County identified Tanya Kaye Brown, age 58, as having been arrested by the DeKalb County Police Department on April 19, 2022, on a murder-felony charge, with a notation that she bonded out.
What the public record appears to show after that is much thinner. The early news accounts described the case as still under investigation, and in the sources I found online, there was no clear later news report or official public announcement naming additional suspects, detailing an indictment, or describing a trial or conviction tied to Hammond’s death. So the case, at least in the online reporting that surfaced, seems to remain defined by that late-night shooting on Bouldercrest Road, the swift arrest of Brown, and then a trail that grows quieter rather than clearer.
