In the early evening of Wednesday, March 1, 2023, tragedy struck in Northwest Washington, D.C., when 20-year-old Rasheed Byles, a male resident of Southeast, D.C., was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 7:51 p.m. in the 6400 block of 8th Street, NW. Metropolitan Police Department officers from the Fourth District responded to a report of a shooting and discovered Byles at the scene, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
