In the early morning hours of Monday, September 4, 2023, the life of Marquette West, a 29-year-old male, was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. At approximately 1:34 a.m., the sound of gunshots pierced the night in the 6000 block of Dix Street, Northeast, just a block away from the border with Prince George's County. When officers from the Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Mr. West suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services rushed him to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. In the course of their investigation, police located a second adult male in a neighboring jurisdiction who had also been injured during the same incident.
This individual was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting of Marquette West. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the case and has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this homicide. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek answers and justice for Mr. West.
