On the night of Monday, September 25, 2023, a 40-year-old Black/African American woman named Tangia Tates-Little was fatally shot in Washington, D.C. The incident occurred at approximately 11:44 p.m. in the 5100 block of Fitch Street, Southeast, in the Marshall Heights neighborhood. Relatives reported that Tates-Little, a mother to a teenage daughter, had just been visiting her mother at a nearby apartment complex. She was shot multiple times after walking out of a gate and onto the street.
