On March 31, 2024, at approximately 3:03 a.m., a tragic incident occurred in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of gunshots inside a residential building located on the 1100 block of 2nd Place, Southeast. Upon arrival, officers discovered 44-year-old Michael James Quander Jr. of Northwest D.C. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, Quander was pronounced dead at the scene.
