In the late afternoon of Monday, February 10, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the usual hustle and bustle of Washington, DC's Union Station. When the chaos subsided, 18-year-old Wayne McDaniel was found unconscious and not breathing near the escalators leading to the parking garage. First responders, including First District officers and Amtrak Police who were alerted by the sound of gunshots near the bus waiting area, immediately began life-saving efforts.
