On May 7, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 42-year-old Tremaine Nicholson. The incident took place in broad daylight, with police receiving a call just after 2 p.m. to the 3400 block of 25th Street, SE.

Upon arrival, officers found Tremaine Nicholson inside a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response from D.C. Fire and EMS, Nicholson was pronounced dead at the scene.
