In the late afternoon of October 23, 2024, tragedy struck in the 4200 block of 6th Street, Southeast, in Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 22-year-old Asonta Dunmore. A Black male, Mr. Dunmore was found by members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District who were responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 4:09 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Asonta Dunmore suffering from gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the scene and attempted life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Mr. Dunmore was pronounced dead at the location of the incident.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the homicide. As of now, there has been no information released to the public regarding any potential suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Mr. Dunmore's death. The investigation remains ongoing as the community mourns the loss of a young life.
