In the Southeast quadrant of Washington, D.C., a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving two men dead. Michael Pate, a 31-year-old man, was one of the victims in the double homicide that occurred on September 18, 2021. The shooting took place in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace SE.
Alongside Pate, another man, 28-year-old Djuan Proctor, was also fatally wounded in the incident. Both men were residents of Northeast Washington.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been made public, but the event prompted a homicide investigation by the local authorities.
In the weeks that followed, the police investigation led to a significant development. On October 8, 2021, authorities arrested a suspect in connection with the double slaying. Marquis Bullocks, a 28-year-old from Northeast D.C., was taken into custody and subsequently charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of Michael Pate and Djuan Proctor.
