The incident occurred at his home on Hell Hollow Road, a place that would become the scene of a grim discovery for law enforcement. Authorities were first alerted to a potential crisis when a 911 call was made just before 11:30 in the morning.
Responding troopers arrived to find Michael Zannini deceased in the driveway of his residence.
The investigation into the circumstances of his death quickly escalated. Connecticut State Police secured the area, issuing a shelter-in-place for nearby residents as they worked to understand the situation inside the home. A drone was deployed and entered the house through an open second-floor door, revealing the body of a woman on a stairwell.
