In the early hours of July 4, 2023, Kyle Van Loozenoord, a 32-year-old White/Caucasian male, was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Interstate 70 in Denver, Colorado. His ride was tragically cut short in a violent encounter that unfolded on the highway. Surveillance and witness accounts revealed that a pickup truck was seen behind Van Loozenoord's motorcycle before the fatal incident.
As the truck, a tan Ford F-150, sped up and passed him, a gunman leaned out of the passenger window and fired at least 20 shots. Struck by the gunfire, Van Loozenoord was killed.
The Denver Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting, piecing together evidence from the scene, including 20 spent shell casings, and video footage from a witness's vehicle that captured the audio of the gunshots. In his memory, his family requested that donations be made to local animal rescue shelters, a reflection of his deep love for animals.
