Benjamin Williams was a 40-year-old male with a giving soul and a talent for creating amazing art. In the early morning quiet of Christmas Eve 2022, his life was cut short inside a hotel on East Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado. At approximately 6:30 a.m. on December 24, police responded to the scene and found Williams, who had been shot. He was pronounced dead, and the Office of the Medical Examiner later confirmed his cause of death was a gunshot wound and ruled it a homicide.
For
several months, the circumstances surrounding Williams's death remained a painful mystery for his loved ones. The Denver Police Department conducted a meticulous investigation, searching for the person responsible. Their persistent efforts led to a significant breakthrough in the spring of the following year. On April 10, 2023, authorities arrested 54-year-old Gregory Snell in connection with the murder.
Following the arrest, the Denver District Attorney's Office filed serious charges against Snell, including one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree murder, and one count of aggravated robbery. The probable cause statement for the case was sealed, limiting the public release of details about the investigation that led police to Snell.
The case against Gregory Snell proceeded through the justice system. In February 2025, a jury convicted him of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery for his role in Benjamin Williams's death. Two months later, in April 2025, Snell was sentenced to serve 44 years in prison.
