In the summer of 2004, a night out at a local concert in Denver, Colorado, ended in tragedy for Kurt Lydell Levias Jr., a 21-year-old Black male. On August 4th, Kurt was at the Bluebird Theater, where his sister was performing at a rap concert. A fight broke out, and as the altercation spilled outside, Kurt was shot while trying to protect his sister and get her to safety.
