Jacoby Shawn DePetris, aged 29, was shot and killed on October 20, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida, during an officer-involved incident. The shooting occurred at a residence on Shims Road when police responded to a suspected home invasion. DePetris was reported to have been armed with a shotgun and was attempting to break into the home of his ex-girlfriend's family, possibly due to ongoing custody issues concerning their daughter.
