Dustin Minarik, a 34-year-old father of three, was tragically shot and killed on March 30, 2014, in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred after Minarik, who was not involved in a nearby house party, approached the gathering to ask for quiet. He had stepped outside his home on Kline Road in Jacksonville's Southside neighborhood to move a work vehicle when he politely requested the partygoers to reduce the noise.
As he turned to walk back to his house, shots were fired, striking Minarik and leaving him fatally injured in the street.
