In the late evening of October 29, 2023, the life of 27-year-old Haisley Mack of Oakland, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. Emergency services responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence on Marion County Road 124 in the Oakland community. Haisley, a female, was transported from the scene to Baxter Health in Mountain Home, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Her body was then sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
The investigation into the shooting continued for months as authorities conducted numerous interviews and processed evidence. Investigators consulted with the State Medical Examiner and submitted several pieces of evidence to the state crime lab for analysis. In August 2024, the Marion County Sheriff's Office announced an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting. Haisley's own brother, 24-year-old Zerahiah Harris, also of Oakland, was taken into custody.
Zerahiah Harris was formally charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a minor. After being booked into the Marion County Detention Center, he was released on a $25,000 bond. The complete case investigation file has since been submitted to the Fourteenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney for review and to determine the next steps in the legal process. Haisley was remembered as a loving mother to her two sons, Dominic and Royce, and a daughter who enjoyed kayaking, boating, and being on the lake.
