In the early morning hours of October 13, 2024, a tragic and perplexing sequence of events unfolded on U.S. Highway 20 near Earlville, Iowa, culminating in the death of 50-year-old Tijuan Devell White. White, a male resident of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, was behind the wheel of a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, traveling eastbound with two passengers. For reasons yet to be fully determined, the vehicle suddenly crossed the median and began heading east in the westbound lanes for more than a mile.
The fateful journey came to a horrific end when the Impala collided head-on with a 2018 Freightliner Straight-Truck. The impact was catastrophic, causing both vehicles to become engulfed in flames. White and his two passengers, 21-year-old Tyrese Devell Johnson of Minneapolis and 38-year-old Augustine T. Monboe of Robbinsdale, were all pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries. A subsequent investigation revealed a startling detail: Tijuan White had sustained a gunshot wound before the collision.
Despite this discovery, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain shrouded in mystery.
