On the evening of October 15th, police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a husband who reported finding his wife, 28-year-old Jacqueline Monique Catano, deceased in their home. The scene that greeted investigators was horrifying, with a significant amount of blood, initially making it unclear if the young mother of three had been shot or beaten.
The couple's three children, all under the age of ten, were present in the apartment at the time of their mother's death but were unharmed.
Initially, Jacqueline's husband told police that he heard a noise in the kitchen and discovered his wife's body. He suggested that a stranger who had knocked on their door earlier in the evening might have returned and been responsible for her death. Investigators held him for questioning as they began to piece together the events of that fatal night.
