On October 4, 2021, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Group Supervisor Michael G. Garbo was fatally shot while conducting an inspection of an Amtrak train at the Amtrak Station in Tucson, Arizona. Garbo and other members of a regional task force, including investigators from the DEA's Phoenix Field Division and Tucson Police Department officers, were on the train to conduct a narcotics inspection. The train was traveling from Los Angeles, California, to New Orleans, Louisiana.
