In the winter of 2023, the life of 18-year-old Aaron Joseph Hernandez was cut short in a violent encounter in west Phoenix. On the evening of January 18th, Phoenix police were called to the area of 8000 West Indianola Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Hernandez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the investigation, Hernandez was in a vehicle with other men when they met with an individual later identified as 19-year-old Robert Alexis Hernandez. The suspect entered the backseat of the car, and at some point during the interaction, multiple gunshots were fired. The gunfire proved fatal for Aaron Hernandez and also resulted in the injury of another passenger in the vehicle.
Following the shooting, the suspect, who had also sustained a gunshot wound, fled the area. He was reportedly picked up by an unknown person and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Phoenix Police Department detectives launched an extensive investigation, which included numerous interviews and the analysis of evidence. Their work led them to identify Robert Alexis Hernandez as the primary suspect in the homicide.
On January 24, 2023, Robert Alexis Hernandez was arrested and booked into jail. He faces several charges, including first-degree murder, for his alleged involvement in the death of Aaron Joseph Hernandez. The investigation into the deadly shooting continues.
