In a tragic turn of events on a Monday afternoon in Mesa, Arizona, a young man's life was cut short, leading to a swift police investigation and an arrest. Deazo Arkone Seghi, a 22-year-old male, was discovered in the driver's seat of a vehicle on December 11, 2023, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of West Evergreen, where police were dispatched around 1:20 p.m. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Seghi succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect thanks to eyewitness accounts. A description of the alleged shooter was broadcast to responding officers, who located a man matching the description a short distance from the scene of the crime. The man, identified as 29-year-old Tyler McGuire, was found in possession of a handgun and a cellphone. Upon being stopped by the police, McGuire immediately invoked his right to an attorney and was not questioned further at that time.

The evidence against McGuire began to mount as detectives processed the crime scene. Shell casings were recovered from the location of the shooting, and a backpack believed to have been dropped by the suspect as he fled contained ammunition that appeared to be the same as the casings found at the scene. Furthermore, the ammunition in the handgun found on McGuire also seemed to match. To solidify the connection, the Mesa Police Department's forensics lab conducted a test fire of McGuire's handgun. The results confirmed that the casings from the test fire were a match to those discovered where Seghi was shot. Following the ballistic analysis and the other evidence gathered, Tyler McGuire was arrested and has since been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Deazo Arkone Seghi.
