In the early morning hours of November 6, 2022, the life of 36-year-old Deangelo Tye, a male, was tragically cut short in Mesa, Arizona. His body was discovered later that morning, around 6:10 a.m., lying in the landscaping of an apartment complex located in the 7500 block of East Billings. A 911 call from a friend who found him alerted Mesa Police Officers to the scene.
Upon their arrival, officers observed drag marks in the landscaping that led to a blood trail.
This grim path guided them to an upstairs apartment unit. The investigation soon uncovered a crucial piece of evidence: a personal surveillance camera. The footage from this camera captured Deangelo Tye and another man, 30-year-old Michael Binion-Jones, walking up to the apartment together. Merely ten minutes later, the same camera recorded Binion-Jones dragging Tye's lifeless body down the stairs and out of the camera's view. Further investigation revealed that at least two individuals in the complex had reported hearing gunshots around 3:00 a.m. that morning.
The evidence gathered by the Mesa Police Department pointed toward Michael Binion-Jones as the primary suspect. He was located and taken into custody in Tempe on November 7, 2022. When questioned by investigators and presented with the surveillance footage, Binion-Jones reportedly denied that it was him in the video, claiming it was 'someone else.' He was subsequently booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder and held on a $1 million bond.
