In the winter of 2014, the life of 28-year-old Annette Elizabeth Bivins, a White/Caucasian woman, was tragically cut short in a Yuma, Arizona hotel room. On the night of December 22nd, police were called to a hotel in the 1700 block of South Sunridge Drive, where they made a grim discovery. Inside one of the rooms, they found Annette and her 27-year-old husband, Deveon Antwan Bivins, both deceased.
Preliminary investigations by the Yuma Police Department revealed that both Annette and
Deveon had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The nature of the scene led authorities to treat the case as a suspicious death, with strong indications that the incident was domestic in nature. At the time of her death, Annette was working as a bartender in the Yuma community.
The investigation into the deaths of the married couple pointed towards an apparent murder-suicide. While the case remained under investigation, it was noted that the primary suspect in Annette's death was deceased, indicating that Deveon was considered responsible for the tragic events that unfolded in the hotel room that night. Funeral services for Annette were held on January 3, 2015, followed by a private cremation.
