In the quiet early morning hours of July 17, 2022, a night of camaraderie took a tragic and violent turn for a group of friends in Yuma, Arizona. Virginia Pena, a 39-year-old Hispanic woman, was enjoying a ride with three female companions, their path illuminated by the sparse streetlights of the desert city. As their tan GMC Yukon traveled near the intersection of 1st Street and 15th Avenue, the night was shattered by the sound of gunfire.
