On March 18, 2015, David Williams, a 29-year-old resident of Mesa, Arizona, was fatally shot during a violent shooting spree in the city. The incident began at the Tri-City Inn, where the suspect, 41-year-old Ryan Giroux, allegedly killed Williams and wounded two other people: 19-year-old Jessica Burgess and Williams’ mother, 51-year-old Lydia Nielson. Williams' mother was shot twice but survived the attack.
