On May 30, 2015, Ebin Lamont Proctor, an 18-year-old from Cottonwood, Arizona, was fatally shot by Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputy Steven Gorman following a traffic stop. The incident began around 4:09 a.m. when two YCSO deputies stopped a Jeep SUV on Vaquero Lane in the Verde Villages for a civil traffic violation, specifically an equipment violation.
