In the warm evening of Tuesday, June 28, 2016, a gathering at a residence in the 3100 block of N. Richey Boulevard in Tucson, Arizona, took a tragic turn. An altercation erupted among the attendees, escalating to an exchange of gunfire. In the midst of the chaos, 30-year-old Enrique Bracamonte was struck. Despite his injuries, he managed to flee the immediate scene, but his strength soon failed him, and he collapsed in the street.
Around 8:10 p.m., the Tucson Police Department received
multiple reports of shots fired in the area. Officers from the Midtown Division and the K-9 Unit were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered Mr. Bracamonte in the roadway with evident gunshot wounds. The officers immediately began to render aid until paramedics from the Tucson Fire Department arrived. He was then swiftly transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Tragically, shortly after his arrival at the hospital, Enrique Bracamonte succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives were called to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Their preliminary findings indicated that the gathering had involved the use of narcotic drugs. While one individual remained at the scene to speak with detectives, the other people present at the residence had fled before the arrival of law enforcement. At the time of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide. The investigation was reported to be in its early stages as detectives continued to follow up on all available leads.
